Try To Escape Eloise Asylum

Let’s get one thing straight right off the bat. Eloise is real. The Asylum? Real. It was a real asylum. The complex was started way back in 1832 as a poor house, eventually growing to 72 buildings. All that’s left now? 4 of the buildings and the cemetery. To say the site has been through a lot of change is an understatement.

One of those buildings, the old commissary, is a homeless shelter. Two are derelicts, still empty and in disrepair.

The last one, formerly known as Building D or the “Kay Beard” Building, was used as a psychiatric facility. It housed up to 400 patients and had living quarters for employees such as the chaplain. The last patients left and the site as a whole closed in 1982. The Kay Beard Building was used as a time for other purposes, but sat empty for years.

Now? Now it’s been reopened. Reawakened. Now, it’s Eloise Asylum, and it’s built to terrorize you.

Loaded with the finest in special effects, Eloise Asylum offers 54,000 square feet of high-tech horror in one of the most haunted facilities in the United States. Using FX technology also utilized by companies like Disney and Universal Studios along with a huge cast of trained actors, Eloise has two attractions on site: Eloise Asylum and Sublevel 1 – Nankin Project.

Eloise Asylum takes place in the asylum building proper, placing you in the very haunted halls, patient rooms, and operating theaters of the former hospital. Sublevel 1 – Nankin Project brings you below the building into the tunnels previously used for deliveries and to quietly bring corpses out of the building. What’s down there, and why? You’ll have to journey below to find out.

New in 2023 are the Deathly Gardens: an immersive outdoor trail full of pumpkins and spooky sights to set the mood before you enter the Asylum. Break out those phones, it’s selfie city out there, just in time for Halloween.

Eloise also offers two escape rooms, also new this year. You have an hour to either Escape The Asylum or commit The Heist At Eloise and steal the prototype machine from Dr. X-Ray. Immersive and inside the asylum, can you beat the challenges and find your way out?

As always, Eloise offers both paranormal investigations after hours and daytime historical tours of the grounds for those interested in exploring the very real and tragic history of the site. A portion of the proceeds of all tickets sold to the Asylum go to the homeless shelter in the commissary building, and the continued work of the Asylum goes into preserving the site as a whole and presenting the history of what happened here.

A scare and a care, what could be better? Come get BOTH at Eloise Asylum up in Michigan this Halloween season!
