Legendary haunt celebrates milestone anniversary with new Midway

When you think of haunted attractions in the United States, Fear Factory in Salt Lake City, UT is usually right at the top of the list. It’s just a universal thing: they’re incredible, unrivaled, and an absolute target for a pilgrimage if you haven’t been.

2026 is the 15th year at the former Portland Cement Works, marking an incredible, monstrous milestone for Fear Factory. To celebrate, they’ve opened a brand new 10,000 square foot Midway to add even more fun and thrills to all the frights you can always find at Fear Factory.

A little history…In the late 1800’s, Salt Lake City experienced an industrial boom. The Portland Cement Works was part of that boom and met with great success. That success came at a price, however. Work at the plant was extremely dangerous, and many workers were maimed or killed over the course of the years. Death and the PCW came hand in hand. The factory eventually closed and went derelict. Abandoned and in terrible disrepair, entrepreneurs bought it and turned it into something new and incredible: a massive haunted attraction.

With six buildings, six floors, and two underground passages, Fear Factory is one of the most imposing haunted attractions in the world. The site is completely unique and would be terrifying to walk through even if it was completely empty. Why? This place is actually haunted. Oh yes. Very. While exploring the property before buying it, the minds behind Fear Factory report that they experienced several unexplained events. Over the years since, those reports never stopped.

Let’s talk about the haunt. Many haunted attractions today feature multiple houses within their grounds. It’s a strong model. Fear Factory puts all their eggs in one massive, haunted basket. The entire complex is one single haunted experience, featuring iconic characters like Caretaker Karl Mossman, Nurse Wretched, the Butcher, and so many more despicable creatures. Up, down, under, in and out, the haunt takes you all over the complex before giving you a chance to escape. Fear Factory has won so many awards by doing what it does exactly right. It’s a gigantic, perfectly crafted haunted experience. Fear Factory is an industry giant…built from actual industry.

Now, for the 15th year, that experience has expanded with a brand new Midway. The Dark Spirits bar has also expanded with more room for spooky spirits and cadaverous cocktails. For those who don’t imbibe in the strong stuff, new this year is a collaboration with FiiZ brand drinks! This means dirty sodas have invaded the Factory and so much more, including two unique non-alcoholic drinks they’ve created just for Fear Factory: Blood Bath and Toxic Sludge! This year, your fear comes padded with expanded food options, more photo ops, fire barrels on chilly nights, and private event spaces for you to book your own gatherings! It’s a great place to meet your group or calm down after a trip through the haunt. If you don’t make it through and have to “chicken exit,” don’t worry, there’s something for you, too! Guests who decide the Factory is a bit too much for them are awarded a free popcorn to sooth their woes.

Fear Factory still offers the extremely popular Zombie Bus to bring guests from parking to the haunt with a pre-party experience nobody expects but everyone enjoys. There are even official after parties at Fright Club and Something Wicked! If you want the real spooky stuff, Grimm Ghost Tours is available to give paranormal tours off-season.

With the new Midway, Fear Factory offers SLC an all-night haunted experience with every thrill you could ever want. It’s a must-do favorite around the nation, so do everything you can to get to Salt Lake City this season and experience the 15th year of Fear Factory!
