The Legendary Brighton Asylum Welcomes Patients for 2026

Brighton Asylum has been terrifying New Jersey haunt fans for a very long time. Located in Passaic on the border of Clinton, the haunted attraction contains three different haunted walkthroughs, four escape rooms, and a midway with more games, mini-escapes, a horror museum, and more.

Starting off, we have the primary walkthrough, Brighton Asylum. The legend goes like this: in 1952 the asylum was closed down due to horrible conditions and disappearances of patients and staff. Eventually, it was reopened for exploration into the nightmares within! It remains open today, welcoming guests for various shows throughout the year. The most famous patient is Frankie, a seemingly ageless madman who has become a bit of a social media star. You can come see Frankie and his fellow patients this season!

Next up is SubCULTure. The asylum had a series of tunnels underneath the facility to transport the most serious cases safely without exposing the outside world. A batch escaped during one of these transfers and made a home here in the dark, winding tunnels. Over the years, they formed a cult of body modified subhumans, mutated by bizarre surgical procedures and toxic waste left in the tunnels. Now, you can traverse the tunnels and try to find your way out. They’ll try to trick and tempt you, seeking new converts. If that fails, they’ll just take you. If you see them, run!

Finally, there are the second floor staff facilities. Staff were housed here, and nightmarish deeds were done. Rumors of occult rituals and sacrifices swirled when the place was condemned in the 50’s. They’re finally open again, and they bear the nickname they had when the doors last opened: The Bleeding Grounds. This is a very bad place full of bad things. Can you survive it?

Beyond the haunted walkthroughs, there’s a midway with several attractions. First is a Horror Museum with actual movie props that gets rave reviews. For an 80’s neon-drenched experience, The Hack Shack offers axe throwing in black light glory. Fear Pressure is a mini-escape experience, and The Twitching Hour is a real-deal paranormal investigation after the haunt closes for the night!

Year round, Brighton has full hour-long escape rooms available, most with horror themes like Dead By Dawn and Slaughter Landing. Can you solve the puzzles with your team and get out in 60 minutes or less?
