‘Rogue Trooper’ Teaser Trailer – Duncan Jones Helms Animated Dystopian Sci-Fi Comic Adaptation
From writer-director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), watch the first teaser trailer for Rogue Trooper, an animated dystopian sci-fi action film based on the comic strip of the same name.
Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk) stars as 19, a Genetic Infantryman who finds himself the sole-survivor of an invasion force. Desperate to track down the traitor who sold him and his comrades out, the super soldier is accompanied by three killed-in-action squad mates, whose personalities have been stored in his gun, helmet, and backpack.
The cast includes Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger), Jack Lowden (Calibre), Daryl McCormack (Wake Up Dead Man), Reece Shearsmith (“Inside No. 9”), Diane Morgan (“After Life”), Alice Lowe (Sightseers), Asa Butterfield (Hugo), and Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings).
From Rebellion and Liberty Films, the film is produced by Jones, Stuart Fenegan (Moon, Source Code), Jason Kingsley (Dredd), and Chris Kingsley (Dredd).
“It is based on the episodic nature of the storytelling, and the fact that we visit all of these different characters in different environments is very much in keeping with the comic,” Jones tells Deadline. “But I had a little bit of fun with it and added a few things and tried to take some of the original stories and add my own spin on it.”
Created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons, Rogue Trooper launched in the British comic magazine 2000 AD, which also spawned Judge Dredd.
