P2, Amityville: The Awakening and Maniac director Franck Khalfoun heads to paradise with Prey, his latest horror offering from Hyde Park Entertainment, ImageNation and Blumhouse Productions.

Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive look at the film’s trailer and word that Cinedigm Corp will release Prey theatrically and on VOD September 27, 2019. It will open in several major theatrical markets including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Orlando, Dallas and Houston.

The thriller stars Escape Room and “The Walking Dead’s” Logan Miller and Kristine Froseth (Apostle) as two young strangers forced to run and fight for their lives against a mysterious and deadly force lurking deep in the jungle of a secluded island retreat. The trailer gives us a flash of the film’s monster, who shows its razor-sharp teeth.

Here’s the long synopsis:

“Prey follows Toby Burns (Miller), a millennial coldly floating through life and disconnected from his family. After his father is tragically killed in a carjacking, Toby is left stricken with guilt. He is begrudgingly enrolled in a “Lost and Found” program, in which he will spend three days and three nights on a remote jungle island. Toby soon finds that this “uninhabited” island is not so lonely when he meets a mysterious girl named Madeleine (Froseth). It soon becomes clear that neither of them are safe here and time is running out. Someone or SOMETHING bloodthirsty lurks in the jungle, and Toby must find a way off this island before becoming its PREY…

Other members of the ensemble include Jolene Anderson (“Harrow”), Jerrica Lai (Crazy Rich Asians), Phodisdo Dintwe (“The Cul De Sac”), Anthony Jensen (Nazi Overlord, The Gallows Act II) and Jody Mortara (“Blood Relatives”).

Prey is written by David Coggeshall and Franck Khalfoun, and produced by Ashok Amritraj, Jason Blum, Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff. Executive Producers include Couper Samuelson, Jeanette Volturno, Alix Taylor, and Priya Amritraj.
