The David Gordon Green-directed Halloween sequel has slashed up the competition for the second straight week, topping the box office with another estimated $32M domestic, and another $42 total international. Its $172M global take makes it the first film in the entire franchise to top $100M. Next week it will best $200M and will quite possibly hit $250M. The budget is reported at $10M, which makes this a booming hit. Michael Myers will be back.

As for Amazon Studios’ remake of Dario Argento’s Suspiria, it scored an insane $89,003 per screen average in just two theaters in New York and Los Angeles. It goes wider next weekend, which could prove interesting. As ERC Box Office notes, this is bigger than The Shape of Water‘s per and one of the biggest limited openings in years.

Venom, Columbia Pictures’ Spider-Man spinoff, has just topped $500M worldwide. As of this writing, it added another $10.8M domestic and also just hit $321 international for a global take of $508M. Next stop, $600M, which seems likely.

All other genre films slowly adding to the pile are Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween at $62.6M global, Eli Roth’s The House With a Clock In Its Walls at $111M and Hell Fest at $13.6M.
