Oscar winner Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with Get Out and then Us. Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope.
The film reunites Peele with Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), who is joined by Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Alice) and Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Okja, “The Walking Dead”, Mayhem) as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.
The first poster teased us with a single image of a cloud hovering over a small town, which many of us believe signaled the arrival of extraterrestrials. Sure enough, the full trailer is here and it’s a full-blown alien invasion horror film!
Being somewhat of a UFO connoisseur (remember when conspiracies used to be safe and fun?), Peele’s Nope appears to lift its inspiration from Dulce, New Mexico, which many believe houses a full-blown secret underground alien base in alliance with our own government.
The trailer itself is pretty revealing, showing off the UFOs, not to mention a young girl burned by one of the ships, stuffed animals in the likeness of the extraterrestrials, and even what looks to be a human-alien hybrid (again, go read about Dulce). I posted some screencaps below the trailer…
“What’s a bad miracle?” Find out on July 22.
