Justice for Kirby? Even David Arquette Would Love to See Hayden Panettiere Return in ‘Scream 5’
One of the most beloved new characters that was introduced in Wes Craven’s Scream 4 was horror fan Kirby Reed, played by Hayden Panettiere. Kirby, alas, met a grim fate in the film, repeatedly stabbed in the stomach and… presumed dead? It’s probably safe to assume the character was indeed killed off in the movie, but some fans just plain refuse to accept it.
And given a lack of concrete evidence that she died from her injuries, well, there’s at least an argument to be made. And if Kirby is still alive, could we see her return in Scream 5?
Speaking with Hollywood Life this week, David Arquette – who has been confirmed to reprise the role of Dewey Riley – noted that he’d love to see Panettiere make a comeback.
“I love Hayden. I think she’s a tremendous person and actress, and I’d love to see her back,” Arquette told the site.
In the world of horror sequels, as we’ve learned over the years, anything is possible!
Ready or Not filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are resurrecting the franchise with the new movie for Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures next year.
