We know that everyone and their grandma wants Left 4 Dead to come back. But while we are getting a spiritual successor in Back 4 Blood, we still have to look for alternatives at present time.
One such alternative has arrived in the form of developers Systemic Reaction’s Second Extinction, which was revealed yesterday as part of Microsoft’s Xbox Event. The three-player, online cooperative shooter will be coming to the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC. A release date was not announced, but a PC closed beta is scheduled for this summer.
In Second Extinction, your goal is simple: wipe out the mutated dinosaurs that have taken over the planet. Teamwork is vital as you adopt the role of one of the survivors, using a unique combination of weapons, abilities and skills to take on the dinos.
“Second Extinction is a real passion project for our tight-knit team, and we’re just getting started,” says Brynley Gibson, Lead Producer at Systemic Reaction. “It’s incredible how far we’ve come in this short time and I’m super excited to reveal more details, including our live roadmap, in the coming months.”
