In a surprise for many, From Software’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice snapped up the Game of The Year award at this year’s Game Awards. Sekiro also snagged the Best Action/Adventure Game of the Year, beating out heavyweights like Death Stranding, Resident Evil 2 and Control in both categories.

Death Stranding didn’t go away empty-handed, however. The Kojima Productions game won Best Game Direction of the Year, Best Performance of the Year (Mads “We want Hannibal back” Mikkelsen), and Best Score & Music of the Year. Meanwhile, Control snapped up the Best Art Direction of the Year. Luigi’s Mansion 3 won Best Family Game of the Year in a category that was entirely Nintendo properties (not that that’s a bad thing), and Devil May Cry V earned the Best Action Game of the Year.

Unfortunately for Resident Evil 2 and Gears 5 fans, both games came up short in the categories in which they were nominated.
