I know a lot of people were disappointed that Suspiria didn’t open in any theaters near them. Thankfully, it appears they won’t have to wait much longer. Listings on both Amazon and Blu-ray.com suggest that Luca Guadagnino‘s remake could arrive on Blu-ray January 29, 2019, through Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The official release will probably include dates for VOD, Digital and Amazon’s streaming platform. Interestingly, this also sets the release right before the Academy Awards just in case there’s a nomination. Thanks to Mike for the heads up.
Meagan reviewed the film and says, “Suspiria is it’s own beast, casting a hypnotic spell that’s sure to divide audiences.”
In the remake:
“A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe’s artistic director (Swinton), an ambitious young dancer (Johnson), and a grieving psychotherapist (Ebersdorf). Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.”
The cast includes Dakota Johnson, Chloe Grace-Moretz, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Sylvie Testud, Renée Soutendijk, Angela Winkler, Małgosia Bela and Lutz Ebersdorf.
Radiohead’s Thom Yorke composed the score. David Kajganich wrote the film, co-financed by Amazon Studios and K Period Media.
