Everyone’s favorite kaiju king is celebrating over 70 years on the big screen with a new video from Toho thanking fans for the continual Godzilla love and giving the giant reptilian a fresh look in the process.

First making an appearance in Ishirō Honda’s Godzilla from 1954, the big boy shows no signs of slowing down, having just won an Oscar for Godzilla Minus One in 2023, with a new sequel and theme park ride coming from Takashi Yamazaki as part of Toho’s so-called “Godzilla Strategy”, which sees the company investing 15 billion yen into expanding on games, products, and attractions featuring the infamous giant reptilian.

Over in the West, Godzilla continues his reign over the MonsterVerse, with the just-announced Godzilla x Kong: Supernova in production for a 2027 release.

In new celebratory footage from Toho (seen below) that dropped over the weekend, Godzilla stomps his way through Southeast Asia, showing off an updated design that includes neon green atomic breath and a new spin on his iconic roar. Whether we’ll see the green breath in the upcoming Godzilla Minus One sequel remains to be seen.

Toho thanks Godzilla fans for “70 years of love, memories, and passion”, asking us to witness the rise and hear the roar of the legend. You don’t gotta tell us twice, Toho!
