Rebecca Hall (The Night House, Godzilla x Kong) is set to star in Zero Protocol, an upcoming zombie horror from director Debs Paterson (Halo, Willow) for Anton and Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish’s UK company Imaginarium Productions.
Reporting the news earlier today, ScreenDaily confirm that Anton is financing the film, and will launch sales at Cannes with WME Independent co-repping the US.
In Zero Protocol, which was written by Dan Hall, [Rebecca] Hall will play an NYPD commissioner who battles to manage a city-wide zombie outbreak exploding in real time, only to discover her teenage daughter is trapped in the middle of the red zone.
Zero Protocol is produced by Imaginarium’s Will Tennant and Cavendish, and is executive produced by Sebastien Raybaud and Callum Grant for Anton, Serkis and Phil Robertson for Imaginarium, and Hall, Paterson and Dan Hall.
Here’s what Paterson has to say about the upcoming pic:
“Zero Protocol is an incredibly exciting fusion of technical and emotional filmmaking […] I’m so thrilled to be working with Imaginarium’s world class team and the truly extraordinary Rebecca Hall to bring Dan’s gripping script to life.”
Tennant adds:
“Dan has written an absolutely thrilling and terrifying story and we couldn’t ask for a greater director than Debs to bring together the script’s big set-pieces with grounded emotional drama. We are delighted that Rebecca Hall has come on board – I couldn’t think of anyone better to be marshalling us to safety during a zombie apocalypse.”
Production on Zero Protocol is set to begin later this year, with location to be confirmed.
Hall is also due to star in Onslaught, the upcoming action-thriller from A24 and Adam Wingard. Look out for further updates on Zero Protocol as we get ’em.
