After tackling sharks in Great White, director Martin Wilson and writer Michael Boughen will reunite to take on giant bats in Dark Jungle, Variety reports.
Described as “a fresh action-adventure which introduces a new apex predator,” the film follows a team of elite mercenaries who embark on a rescue mission deep in the jungle only to find themselves hunted by a swarm of giant, deadly bats.
Wilson and Boughen are producing alongside Neal Kingston & Michael Robertson (The Reef: Stalked, Black Water: Abyss) of Thrills & Spills.
Capture Entertainment, the recently-launched joint venture between Capstone Global and Signature Entertainment, will launch sales at Cannes.
“I’m ecstatic to be teaming up with Capture on Dark Jungle and bringing a new apex predator to the Croisette,” said Wilson. “Their passion for bold, commercial storytelling is exactly what this film needs — and there’s no better place to launch than Cannes.”
“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Neal and Michael at Thrills & Spills to bring Martin’s bold, original vision for Dark Jungle to the screen,” added Capture’s Ella Field. “From the moment we heard the pitch and read the script, we were hooked by its ambition, relentless pace, and unforgettable creature unlike anything we’ve seen.”
“We’re excited to be partnering with Capture Entertainment to bring this thrill-a-minute, high tension, and bold genre energy project to life, and keep our fans and new audiences around the world on the edge of their seats,” said Thrills & Spills.
