Steam Demo Has Returned for ‘Urban Myth Dissolution Center’; Switch Store Page Now Live [Trailer]

After announcing a TV deal to adapt their hit roguelite Vampire Survivors two years ago, things have been quiet on that front from developer Poncle. That was until a recent update on the game’s Steam page that provided a wrap-up of 2024 for Vampire Survivors, but also detailed what’s to come. That includes news on the deal with Story Kitchen, which has apparently now changed from an animated television series to a live-action film.

“We’re still working with Story Kitchen on a live-action film, respecting all the strikes and taking our time to get things right,” says the developer. “As mentioned last year, rather than jumping the gun and make stuff for the sake of making it, we have preferred to wait to find partners that felt right, especially because to make anything that isn’t a videogame out of VS requires good ideas, creativity, and that quirky knowledge of the game, that is a very difficult triplet to get 100% right. Please remember the game has no plot (it doesn’t? ), so nobody can really anticipate how a film about it is going to be, that is part of what makes it exciting.”

It also seems that a live-action adaptation of Vampire Survivors isn’t the only thing in the cards for Poncle. The developer also hinted at “a few other ‘cross-media’ things” that they will be revealing in the future, though obviously they’re keeping it quiet for now.

As for non-adaptation stuff, Vampire Survivors will be getting more content later this year, along with the much-anticipated cross-save feature and online co-op.

In addition to Steam, Vampire Survivors is also available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
