The 2025 BAFTA nominations were revealed earlier today, with Hugh Grant picking up a nod for his role as Mr. Reed in Scott Beck and Bryan Woods’ theological thriller Heretic.

Grant joins Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice) in the Lead Actor category.

The nomination marks Grant’s fourth BAFTA Film nomination thirty years after his first for Four Weddings And A Funeral.

Following its release in November of last year, Heretic went on to become one of A24’s top box office earners, racking up a global total of $51.9 million and becoming one of the genre giant’s ten biggest movies ever.

In the movie, also starring Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East, two Mormon missionaries attempt to convert a reclusive man (Grant’s Mr. Reed) but realize he is more dangerous than he seems.

Also representing horror with nominations is Demi Moore with a Lead Actress nod for The Substance, for which she’s already taken home the Golden Globe for. Excitingly, according to bookmakers, Moore is currently leading odds for the Best Actress Oscar, neck and neck with Anora‘s Mikey Madison.

The Substance director Coralie Fargeat is also up for Best Director,  and the film itself for Best Original Screenplay, Make Up & Hair and Sound.

Robert Eggers’ Gothic epic Nosferatu scored five nominations for Cinematography, Costume Design, Make Up & Hair, Original Score and Production Design.

The BAFTA Awards will take place on February 16. Head over to Deadline for the full rundown of nominations.
