We may still have a while to wait for a new Scream movie but, in the meantime, gamers amongst you can enjoy some carnage with Ghostface as the legendary slasher is making his way to Mortal Kombat 1 in November. It was announced over the summer at San Diego Comic-Con that Ghostface was indeed coming to the Mortal Kombat universe. This latest trailer, which you can check out below, shows the killer in his element in Woodsboro, with an appropriate makeover for the occasion. Check it out.
It’s a brief teaser trailer, but one that packs a punch. It opens with the classic, “Do you like scary movies?” line delivered by Roger L. Jackson. We then move to a series of murders by Ghostface, bathed in lightning to help suit the occasion. More importantly, we see that the character’s mask changes several times, seemingly to mimic certain characters from the game. It’s a nice little touch that helps make this feel like a true part of the universe, rather than a gimmick. Either way, this is a welcome addition.
Ghostface will be part of the game’s latest expansion called Khaos Reigns. Those who own the base game as well as the expansion will get access to not only Ghostfacce, but Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Conan the Barbarian and Robert Patrick’s T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The synopsis for the expansion reads as follows:
“Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns expands Liu Kang’s New Era with a new story campaign and an all-new cinematic experience. Discover how Liu Kang rallies his champions and puts faith in his enemies as he battles the ruthless Titan Havik, who threatens to plunge the realms into khaos. If they fail, the New Era will be reduced to anarchy.”
Meanwhile, Scream 7 is currently in the works at Paramount following the success of 2022’s Scream and last year’s Scream VI. The film will see the return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, with series co-creator Kevin Williamson set to direct. The film is currently set to hit theaters in February 2026. No word yet on plot details but the studio will need to find a way to address star Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega’s messy departure from the franchise.
The Khaos Reigns expansion is available now for Mortal Kombat 1 with Ghostface arriving on November 26, but early access opens up on November 19. For more, read Scream star Matthew Lillard’s recent comments about Stu “definitely” being alive.
