It’s been a very, very long time coming, but a new trailer for Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice  (hitting theaters on September 6, 2024) is finally here today from Warner Bros. – and, like its predecessor, it’s going hard on the old school practical effects.

Returning after 40 years to the world of Beetlejuice are stars of the 1988 original  Michael Keaton (as the titular Ghost with the Most), Winona Ryder (as Lydia Deetz) and Catherine O’Hara, with new additions including Jenna Ortega (as Lydia’s daughter Astrid), Willem Dafoe (as a dead police officer), Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci.

A full plot synopsis reads as follows:

After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”

Burton is directing from a screenplay by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (Wednesday), and a story by Gough & Millar and Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO Batman Movie). Long time Burton collaborator Danny Elfman is also returning to score the spooky sequel.

Keaton already teased that – true to form – Beetlejuice Beetlejuice wouldn’t rely too much on technology, instead embracing the puppetry and pageantry of the original – and from the looks of this trailer he wasn’t lying. Popping eyes, stop-motion sandworms and some excellent campy costumes promise that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is gonna be a wild ride.

Now it’s back to the waiting room until September 6 – we’ll have more updates for you as we get them! Now get hyped with this trailer:
