Universal Pictures has announced the release date for Him, a new movie produced by Get Out and Us director Jordan Peele. Relatively little is known about the film, but it hails from director Justin Tipping (Black Monday, The Chi), with Marlon Wayans (A Haunted House, Scary Movie) leading the cast. The studio has set the film to hit theaters on September 19, 2025. Mark your calendars and plan accordingly.

Plot details remain a bit thin but, per The Hollywood Reporter, Him focuses on an aging football quarterback, played by Wayans. It is billed as “a blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power and the pursuit of excellence at any cost.” The film centers “on a promising young football player, invited to train at the isolated compound of a dynasty team’s aging QB1.” The project was previously going under the title GOAT and will co-star Julia Fox (Uncut Gems). Tyriq Withers (Horror Noire) is playing the young football player.

Tim Heidecker, comedian Jim Jefferies, hip-hop artist Guapdad 4000 and Grammy nominee Tierra Whack round out the ensemble cast. Heidecker previously worked with Peele on Us. Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie (Limetown) penned the script, which was previously on the Blacklist, which serves as an unofficial list of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. Peele produces the film alongside Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld and Jamal Watson, with David Kern and Kate Oh on board as executive producers.

Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions banner signed a five-year pact with Universal in 2019. Aside from his directorial efforts, Peele has produced several movies including 2021’s Candyman, as well as this year’s Monkey Man. He has also served as a producer on TV shows such as Hunters and The Last O.G. The man stays busy, that much is certain.

Meanwhile, Peele is also busy working on his next movie as a director, which will serve as his follow-up to 2022’s NOPE. The project, which was originally going to arrive in December of this year, has been shrouded almost entirely in mystery. Peele did, however, say a little something about it back in March mentioning that it could be his favorite movie “if I make it right.” We’ll see what comes of that one as the development process rolls along. In the meantime, we’ve got Tipping’s blood-chilling sports thriller to look forward to next year.

Look for Him in theaters on September 19, 2025.
