Jason Blum, one of the many producers on the forthcoming David Gordon Green-directed Halloween, has seen an early cut and feels “really good about it,” he told Digital Spy.
“I saw a cut of it two nights ago. I think David did a terrific job,” Blum told the site. “He did everything I hoped he would do which is respect the DNA of the franchise and bring something totally new to it and we’re really very, very excited for people to see it.”
The promise has always been to respect John Carpenter‘s original 1978 slasher with the new sequel, which allegedly begins the same night as the aforementioned’s grand finale. The DNA comes with the cast of Jamie Lee Curtis, who returns as Laurie Strode, while Nick Castle will return to the role of Michael Myers (stunt performer and actor James Jude Courtney will also appear as The Shape). Most of all, it’s because Carpenter returned to executive produce (and score).
Adds Blum: “The most fun I had with him is I brought [Carpenter] to the set, and I was on the set with him and Jamie Lee Curtis, and boy that was pretty special, pretty amazing. It was a proper reunion.”

In Halloween, co-written by Danny McBride, “Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.”
Judy Greer plays Karen Strode, Laurie’s daughter, while Andi Matichak landed the coveted role of the film’s young lead (daughter to Greer and granddaughter to Curtis).
The cast also includes Virginia “Ginny” Gardner (Project Almanac, Marvel’s “Runaways”), Miles Robbins (Mozart in the Jungle, My Friend Dahmer), Dylan Arnold (Mudbound, Laggies, When We Rise), and Drew Scheid (“Stranger Things”, The War with Grandpa). They will be playing the friends of Matichak’s Allyson.
Michael returns home on October 19, 2018.
