Pennhurst Asylum Grows Deadly
The first thing that strikes you is how imposing the building is. The small cupola on top of the roof lit from within, the broad stone façade covered in rows of windows, with a strong, stone-pillared porch front and center at the entrance.
It wasn’t built with warmth or a welcoming spirit in mind. It definitely lacks both of those things now. Now, there’s foreboding lights and sounds coming from within. A crowd is gathered. Excitement and fear are in the air.
Located in Spring City, PA, Pennhurst Asylum is, in fact, a former asylum. As anyone who has taken one of their paranormal tours can attest, it is also very haunted by those who lived, worked, and died there. Just walking through this building in the dark would be terrifying.
But here, something else is going on. Pennhurst Asylum has a series of haunted attractions inside this building, and it is something to be seen. Featuring the latest special effects and packed with actors, this extremely haunted building has four different attractions on-site to push your sanity to its absolute limit.
But in one building, something else is going on. Pennhurst Asylum is a haunted attraction inside one of the huge buildings still in good shape, and it is something to be seen. Featuring the latest special effects and packed with actors, this extremely haunted building has four different attractions on-site to push your sanity to its absolute limit.
Starting with the main Pennhurst Asylum attraction, guests move into The Morgue at Pennhurst Asylum for a chilly reception. If they survive the Morgue, they’ll descend down into the Pennhurst Tunnels below the building and face subterranean horrors living in the shadows below.
But that’s not all. VIP ticket holders can experience The Catacombs, a fourth attraction exclusive to those guests. The truly adventurous can spring for the Supernatural RIP experience, which is a VIP ticket, TWO trips through the Catacombs, and a ghost hunting experience once the haunt closes with access to other parts of the site. 4-5 hours in all!
NEW this year: the Deathly Gardens! Outside the Asylum building, a new garden is waiting for visitors, full of pumpkins and other holiday dressing, perfect for photo opportunities while you wait to enter. Why do they call them the Deathly Gardens? You may want to give those vines some distance while taking the selfies, that’s all I’m saying.
Real ghosts, real horror, a building packed with people dedicated to scaring the hell out of you above and below ground, what more are you looking for? Head to Pennsylvania and find out what’s waiting for you inside Pennhurst Asylum this Halloween season.
