Blood Prison Goes Beyond The Scare
The Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield is famous. Only word for it. We’ve all seen it. It’s been in movies, TV shows, documentaries, you name it. It might be the most famous prison in the nation not named Alcatraz.
Wherever you may know it from, the reality is darker. Bad men were housed here. Bad men died here. Some part of bad men just might linger here still. So of course, a bunch of maniacs have built a haunted attraction inside it, and you’re invited to go through this Halloween season.
See, the oh-so-very haunted Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield is now Blood Prison, and it’s been packed with terrifying actors and FX to scare the daylights out of anyone who dares to venture inside. And then there’s the Widow…
Oh yes. The Warden’s Widow, who watches over the place. She wanders the grounds, shrieking her banshee howl, turning the soul of anyone who hears it to ice. If you go to the Reformatory, if you enter the grounds of the Blood Prison, you just might encounter her yourself.
Once you’re inside Blood Prison, you explore the world’s largest free-standing steel cell block. You’ll run into both crazed inmates and insane guards. And yes, you’ll descend into the suffocating darkness of The Hole. While you walk through the Prison, always remember: every square inch of this place is actually haunted and has been thoroughly explored and researched by multiple teams of paranormal researchers who have captured piles of evidence. The place is scary enough on its own.
Brand new in 2023, Blood Prison is offering a new Beyond The Scares tour. In October, during daylight hours, this special tour will run for 90 minutes at a time. For a $35 fee, guides will lead tours through the reformatory with the lights on, giving a look behind the scares, as the title suggests. Guests will receive full in-depth details of Blood Prison, its history, how the sets are built, the storyline of the attraction, as well as the history of the Warden’s Widow.
This new attraction offers an incredible behind the scenes look at Blood Prison and the Reformatory during the day to match the horrors on display after dark. It’s not to be missed, and of course, neither is Blood Prison.
Make the trip to Ohio and take a trip through history at Blood Prison…if you have the guts!
