After its debut at Sony’s E3 2018 presser, Remedy Entertainment’s Control is back with another developer diary, this time showing off the gameplay for the third-person action-adventure game.

According to lead designer Paul Ehreth, Control is “far less linear than any game [Remedy] has done before”. Ehreth added that the team is constructing the game so that areas that you’ve previously visited can be revisited, but like the dreamworld in Inception, those areas will have changed slightly.

Creative director Sam Lake (who sill looks like Max Payne after all these years) and game director Mikael Kasurinen also show up next to talk a bit about the story, and how it relates to the environment. “Control represents a new exciting chapter for us,” says Kasurinen, who says the game “redefines what a Remedy game is. It shows off our unique ability to build compelling worlds while providing a new player-driven way to experience them. A key focus for Remedy has been to provide more agency through gameplay and allow our audience to experience the story of the world at their own pace.”

These talking heads are spliced in between footage of the game’s protagonist, Jesse Fadens, as she navigates through a glorified Escher painting.

You can look to gain Control (sorry) next year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

And in case you missed the first developer diary, which covers the story for Control, you can check it out below.
