The mega popularity of HBO’s “Tales from the Crypt, which aired from 1989 through 1996, made host The Cryptkeeper a beloved household icon, with the series spawning an animated series titled “Tales from the Cryptkeeper” and even a toy line for kids. But what you probably didn’t know is that a video game was at one point in the works.

YouTube channel CryptTube, a wonderful resource for “Tales” fans, recently dove deep into the unreleased game in a two-part video series, noting that the PC game was supposed to be released sometime around 1995/1996. They even caught up with “Tales” artist Mike Vosburg, who worked on the game, and scored never-seen concept art.

“Inscape’s Tales from the Crypt CD-rom was to be a role-playing adventure game that thrust the player into a dark realm of murder and mayhem with challenging puzzles, mazes and plot twists.”

Now, the channel has unearthed and uploaded a rare cinematic preview for the unreleased game, which they found on an Inscape games demo disc from the mid-late ’90s. The disc included playable demos of some upcoming games, along with what is essentially a cinematic intro/teaser trailer of sorts for the “Tales” video game.

For now, this is really all that exists of the aborted video game project…
