‘Devil May Cry 5’ Now Best-Selling Entry in The Series, ‘Resident Evil 2’ Remake Has Now Outsold The Original
To go along with the news regarding Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition, Capcom has updated their list of “Platinum Titles“, which are games that have sold over one million units as of December 31, 2019. And to no one’s surprise, Monster Hunter: World remains on top with over 14 million units sold. There are, as expected, a few surprises.
For Devil May Cry fans, Devil May Cry V is now the series’ highest-selling entry, at 3.1 million units. This beats out Devil May Cry 4, which sits at 3 million units sold. The Special Edition version, considered separate from the original game, has itself now crossed the one million mark with 1.4 million units sold across the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
And for Resident Evil fans, Resident Evil 7 has now sold a combined seven million units, while the Resident Evil 2 remake has now outsold the original version (5.8 million units to 4.96 million, respectively). Keep in mind that the RE2 remake was only released back in January 2019. Resident Evil 5 is still the best-selling of the series at 7.6 million units, however.
The obvious question now is: What will happen when the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake is released on April 3 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC?
