‘Resident Evil VII’ Coming to the Nintendo Switch May 24th…in Japan

Well, after rumours last year of Capcom working to bring Resident Evil VII to the Nintendo Switch, it’s finally going to happen on May 24th. In Japan. And in a weird way.

Capcom have released a trailer for the port, which is labelled Resident Evil VII Biohazard Cloud Version. The game will include all of the DLC content released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. However, this version of the game will only be playable only through streaming, and therefore will not be playable offline.

As noted in a GamesIndustry Japan article, Capcom’s Masaru Ijuin talked about the potential of the port last year at the Game Creators Conference 2017 in Japan. There were concerns about the Switch’s capabilities (namely the system’s RAM) to run RE7 in both the docked and portable modes. It appears this was the solution.

There’s no word yet on a North American version, nor just how the game will run via streaming. At least we won’t have to wait long to find the answer for the latter.
