The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. A few gameplay imbalances and weak story were offset by the incredible atmosphere (for the time), and it certainly deserves a second look. Well, the team behind the series (Vostok Games) has just announced a brand-new FPS-Battle Royale game called Fear The Wolves.
Set to release “sometime in 2018” for PC and consoles, Fear The Wolves looks to capitalize on the success by PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and kick it up a notch by throwing 100 players into oppressive and radiation-ravaged Chernobyl to duke it out until one person is left standing. The big thing in the game is its environment, which includes “deadly anomalies” (read: mutants) and dynamically-changing weather, in addition to a day-night cycle that “constantly forces survivors to adapt their strategies”.
The game is expected to show up on Steam’s Early Access prior to consoles, so keep an eye out.
