‘A Quiet Place’: Jeff Nichols No Longer Directing the Franchise’s Planned Spinoff Movie
Vertical Entertainment will be kicking off 2022 with indie horror movie La Patasola, Deadline reports today, a vampire movie that’s based on South American folklore.
Vertical, via Deadline, “plans to release it in theaters in at least 10 major markets, and across streaming media and other platforms, on January 14, 2022.”
“La Patasola follows two struggling couples whose relationships, morality and will to survive are tested when they’re haunted by a famed vampiric monster from South American folklore.”
AJ Jones (Lovecraft Country) directed and wrote the film with Shaun Mathis (The Plug). Deadline notes that the original story was created by Mathis and Daniela Gonzalez (Frenemies).
The cast includes Luciana Faulhaber (Shades of Blue), Patrick R. Walker (The Resident), Najah Bradley (Black Box), Gillie Jones (Welcome to Flatch), Jack Young (The Perfect Race) and Mark Pettit (True Detective).
