[PAX East 2019] Gearbox Show Roundup: ‘Borderlands 3’ Announced and More

During Gearbox’s extremely troubled PAX East 2019 stream, it finally revealed the much-anticipated continuation of the Borderlands series, Borderlands 3.

The new game is the first since The Pre-Sequel was released nearly five years ago.

There’s a lot of callbacks to Borderlands past, including spinoff Tales From the Borderlands, and the return of fan-favorite characters such as the vault hunters from past games, Moxxi, and Tiny Tina (who is no longer Tiny) who has a cool new rabbit mask.

Also…Guns on Legs.

The Original Borderlands GOTY Edition will be remastered for PS4 and Xbox One with new quality of life improvements including a mini-map, and 4 player co-op. It’s out April 3

Elsewhere in Gearbox’s show, we got a release date for We Happy Few‘s DLC ‘They Came From Below‘ (April 4 on all platforms).

DLC for Borderlands 2 VR will be coming this Summer as a free update. A free UHD pack for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is dropping April 3.

Bulletstorm is set for a Nintendo Switch port this Summer (yes, featuring Duke Nukem).

Gearbox is publishing a few more games, including Justin Roiland’s potty-mouthed VR game Trover Saves the Universe. That’s out in May

co-op indie shooter Risk of Rain 2 was given an Early Access trailer. The game is available on Steam from today. If you buy it in the next few days, you can give a free copy to a friend!

There’s a tabletop game of Borderlands called Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Party. That is interesting, the presentation onstage? Kinda. Randy Pitchford did a magic show and it was incredibad. More please.

The second half of the show was a spectacular mess, with the trailers for Borderlands GOTY Edition crashing repeatedly and both it and the Borderlands 3 trailer juddering throughout. I feel like I’ve witnessed a murder. It’s unfortunate for a dev team who had waited so long to reveal their game to endure such a rough reveal.

Anyway, Borderlands 3 looks alright, doesn’t it?
