More ‘Dark Souls III’ Cut Content Includes Unused Boss, Enemies

Lance McDonald is back again with some juicy cut content from From Software’s Dark Souls III! After previously data mining and discovering a cut Snake Ball boss in Bloodborne, as well as discovering unused bonfire mechanics in Dark Souls III, Lance has this time found a couple of bosses, new enemies, and some vastly different creature designs hidden in game’s code.

Going back once again to an alpha version of the game, McDonald found a new boss named Angel of Dragons which is an obvious inspiration for Oceiros, the Consumed King. Angel of Dragons can be seen holding his baby, Ocelotte, throughout the battle. The room that you find Angel of Dragons in is populated with ghostly swords stuck in the ground, as well as a piece of music that went unused in the final game.

Another difference can be found in Vordt of the Boreal Valley. He’s titled Full Armored Beast in the alpha version. Like Angel of Dragons, Vordt features babies, though this time the babies are seen clinging to his stomach. And again, the battle features more cut music that went unused in the final game.

Once you leave Vordt’s arena, you’re greeted by an enemy named Caller of the Eclipse (small), wielding a walking stick and carrying a tortoise shell on its back. This was repurposed to be one of the conversational NPCs in the final game. However, in the alpha, these were originally designed to be timid, enemies that were slow to attack, and would sometimes fall down and struggle to get back up.

Elsewhere in the video, Lance goes over the redesigned King’s Garden area, which also includes a different enemy layout, and a variation on the slug enemy that features a cut attack. As always, if you’re a sucker for these types of videos (like myself), this is just another neat little treat.
