What do you get when you cross classic 16-bit Squaresoft (now Square Enix) graphics with survival horror? On December 20th, we’ll find out on the Nintendo Switch with DYA Games’ Viviette.
Previously released on Steam back in October (which you can grab here), the game will mark the first console release for the studio. The story has you waking up in a hospital bed with vague memories of strange events that occurred with you and your friends at the Neuville Mansion. Diving further into the mystery reveals something far more sinister about the mansion than what you initially expected. There’s also “something” following you…
Viviette features gorgeous pixel graphics that are enhanced by lighting effects, disturbing 3D positional audio and a completely original atmospheric soundtrack, multiple endings, “challenging, ingenious, and unique puzzles with no obvious and simplistic answers”, and a deep inventory system that upon examination, could potentially reveal clues from the items that you collect to aid you in your mystery.
