Touted as being set to redefine atmospheric gaming, indie developer Wechselbalg Studio has announced the public demo release of 3Tower, which is available now on itch.io, and coming to Steam in the coming days. The release of the 20-minute demo marks an important milestone for 3Tower as it enters the Game Development World Championship (GDWC) 2025, where it will compete for global recognition as a standout indie title.

A mix of immersive storytelling and tense exploration that’s driven by “unpredictable, systemic terror,” 3Tower puts players in the boots of a night watchman tasked with a literal graveyard shift, overseeing a mysterious cemetery filled with restless spirits. The problematic dead are kept in check by three ancient towers. If the towers fail, all hell breaks loose.

You’ll need to endure a full 6-hour shift, during which you’ve got to maintain these towers, with each night bringing its own share of problems. As each tower operates on unstable technology, you’ve got to deal with blown fuses, power outages, flickering monitors, and so on. That unpredictable part of the description comes from the spirits, who respond dynamically with no scripted hauntings.

You can either choose to clock in, survive your shift and leave, or you can decide to investigate. There are three alternative storylines to discover, with each one revealing a different layer of the graveyard’s dark history. Choose to obey the rules and keep your head down, or dig deeper into the origins of the towers and the things they contain. However, some things are best left buried.
