A horror icon is joining the Mortal Kombat universe. As announced during a panel for Mortal Kombat 1 at San Diego Comic-Con, a new Kombat Pack titled Khaos Reigns was revealed. As part of that, none other than Ghostface himself from the Scream franchise. Yes, those who decide to purchase this DLC in the not-too-distant future will be able to beat down the likes of Liu Kang and Sub-Zero as Ghostface. Video games truly are a beautiful thing, aren’t they?

A trailer for Khaos Reigns has also been released online, which you can check out above. It largely focuses on the new story chapters being added as part of the DLC for Mortal Kombat 1, which first launched late last year. Lots of cinematic footage mixed with bloody gameplay action in the mix. At the end of the trailer, we get our first taste of Ghostface, delivering his classic line, “Do you like scary movies?” We then get a little glimpse at the character design for the game, even though we don’t get to see him actually kicking ass just yet.

Additionally, Ghostface will have some company in the form of Conan the Barbarian, looking very much like a young Arnold Schwarzenegger, as well as Rober Patrick’s T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Classic MK characters Sektor, Cyrax and Noob Saibot will also be included. In Mortal Kombat 1

“It’s In Our Blood. Discover a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by Fire God Liu Kang. Mortal Kombat 1 ushers in a New Era of the iconic franchise with a new fighting system, game modes, and Fatalities!”

The game largely served as a reset of the continuity for the games after Mortal Kombat 11. So far, it’s been well received by the fanbase. As for Ghostface, horror icons joining the game is nothing new. Over the years, characters such as Jason Voorhees and Spawn have been thrown in the mix. But seeing Ghostface throw down will undoubtedly be a fun treat for longtime fans.

Meanwhile, both of these respective franchises are thriving at the moment. Aside from the game, Mortal Kombat 2 is currently in the works, with the film due to hit theaters next October. Also on the horizon is Scream VII, which will bring back Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott as well as Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers

Mortal Kombat 1 is available now on console and PC. Khaos Reigns drops on September 24. For more, check out our list of scary movies to watch if you like Scream
