Steam Next Fest is underway, and several titles have announced new demos for fans to dig into for the next week. That includes Retroware’s Toxic Crusaders, Stormling Studios’ Lunacy: Saint Rhodes, King’s Pleasure’s Cosmic: A Journey Among Shadows, and Starward Industries’ The Invincible.

Announced way back in 2018, Lunacy: Saint Rhodes also has a release date to go along with its demo. Arriving on July 27th, the game takes place in the town of Saint Rhodes, where you seek the truth behind your family’s murder. In doing so, you’ll be investigating the history behind your ancestral home and the town of Saint Rhodes, all the while fighting to survive against what haunts it. This first-person survival horror title will also feature multiple endings.

King’s Pleasure’s 2D horror metroidvania Cosmic: A Journey Among Shadows contrasts sharp shapes, vibrant colors and somewhat lighthearted story with its cosmic horror undertones later this year. But in the meantime, players can get a taste of what to expect with the demo. Cosmic tells the story of Cosmic, a mischievous creature whose sole and best friend is his own shadow. One day, due to mysterious circumstances, Cosmic loses his shadow and finds himself powerless at the bottom of an unknown world. However, Cosmic soon discovers that he has acquired a new, bigger shadow – that of a powerful beast whose owner is already on the hunt for him.

Back in May, Starward Industries’ hard sci-fi thriller The Invincible had a demo for players to try out, and now the devs are back with a brand new one. The Invincible is still slated for release later this year, and centres on Yasna, a highly qualified astrobiologist sent on a scientific mission to discover what lies on the dusty surface of the uncharted Regis III. When your crew disappears, things quickly get out of hand, and the mind-boggling scientific phenomena that you experience throughout the course of your journey will bend your understanding of the difference between life and death.

Lastly, we’re all psyched to get some old-school beat-’em-up action from Retroware’s upcoming Toxic Crusaders, which looks to follow the recent success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. While it looks as if we’ll have to wait until next year to get the full version, at least we have the demo to give us that quick fix before the full experience. Toxic Crusaders will see you as Toxie with up to three other players in an arcade-style beat-’em-up as you take on Dr. Killemoff and his Radiation Rangers.
