Summer Game Fest just shocked the hell out of the gaming community with a Resident Evil Requiem announcement. After a “special message” announcing a sale on Resident Evil Village, it seemed there wouldn’t be any of the highly anticipated RE news coming out of the fest.
They tricked audiences again with a second special message celebrating the upcoming 30th anniversary of Resident Evil and an update on the new game that reassured fans it would be available “in just a blink of an eye more.” It seemed that was all we were going to get here. I could hear the collective sigh of Resident Evil fans hoping for a meatier update and a trailer.
As the event came to an end, there was one more trailer to see. And as it turns out, Resident Evil Requiem entered the chat. They weren’t kidding about that “in just a blink of an eye more.” Sneaky.
The ninth installment in the Resident Evil video game franchise is indeed almost here. Resident Evil Requiem has an official release date of Feb. 27, 2026 for PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Watch the full trailer for Resident Evil Requiem below.
