For the Survival Horror crowd with a thing for found-footage, solo developer Joure Visser (creator of last October’s DON’T SCREAM) has a little something for you in DEADCAM. Currently slated for release in Early Access on Steam on June 23, DEADCAM stays true to its inspiration, using a found-footage aesthetic as part of its short story “recordings”, each set in unique settings and locations.

In DEADCAM, the player plays through said stories, where it’s up to them to survive and uncover what happened. As mentioned, each recording is a unique, self-contained experience set in its own location, along with its own set of unique challenges and back-story. Some recordings might lean more into action, whereas others lean into a pure horror experience.

Upon its release into Early Access, only one “recording” will be available, with a simple inventory system. Per IGN, the game is built in Unreal Engine 5, and features three weapons in the first story: a katana, a shotgun, and a pistol. Each story is built to be completed in about one hour. For those concerned about replayability, there are three different endings available.

Visser wants DEADCAM to be “a rollercoaster ride full of intense, horrifying moments,” and as such is planning, but not limited to things such as additional recordings, more diverse experiences, and new creatures and entities, all combined with dynamic gameplay.
