The denizens of Five Nights at Freddy’s are joining Dead By Daylight’s Murderers’ Row of killers next month, and developer Behaviour Interactive is already plotting to expand the game’s roster of horror villains.

The team behind the asymmetrical horror experience recently revealed to IGN their most coveted movie monster at the top of their wishlist: John Carpenter’s The Thing.

“As far as I know, it’s not something that is being discussed above me, but my dream – and probably my favorite horror movie – is the obvious one: The Thing, Killer designer Jason Guzzo told the outlet. “I would love to get The Thing into [Dead by Daylight]. I have been here for two and a half years, and I have been on a crusade to figure out how to get The Thing into Dead by Daylight.

In the 1982 film based on John W. Campbell Jr’s short story, a research team in Antarctica is hunted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of its victims.

Set at a research station in Antarctica, the story follows a twelve-man research team who finds an alien being that has fallen from the sky and has remained buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Once unfrozen and unleashed, the creature induces paranoia and terror as it changes forms and becomes one of them.

Adding a shapeshifting creature that could take on the appearance of any players in game sounds awesome in theory but would definitely present logistical hurdles to clear, though Guzzo remains “on a crusade to get done at some point.”

That’s not the only Carpenter movie monster on the devs’ list, either. Dead by Daylight Creative Director Dave Richard said, “They could be mostly a joke, but I think there’s a way to make it work, especially now in the timeline: Cujo. Christine.

Time will tell whether Behavior Interactive will land their dream Killers for the game, but in the meantime we can look forward to Springtrap and more to wreak havoc next month.
