As the filming location for one of the most iconic horror films of all time, the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania is gearing up to celebrate all things slimy and horrific this summer. As a part of their summer event series, the theater has just announced the lineup for their annual Blobfest celebration, a weekend of fun and fright dedicated to the classic Steve McQueen film.

The twenty-sixth installment of the three-day festival pays homage to the Colonial’s starring role in The Blob in 1958, in a scene where a terrified crowd of moviegoers flees from the titular monster. This year, Camp Blobfest, as it’s themed this year, runs from July 11—13, with an opening night stage show on July 11 hosted by mistress of ceremonies Aurora Gorealis, featuring live music by Beach Creeper, Shorty’s Short Film Contest, and a “and a thrilling reenactment of the legendary Run-Out scene from The Blob.” The stage show will be followed by The Blob Ball, a throwback dance party complete with “vintage outfits, themed cocktails, dancing, and classic tunes.”

July 12 will feature the festival’s Saturday Street Fair, with over seventy unique vendors, live music and DJs, exclusive merchandise, a costume contest, and more, as well as the the Fire Extinguisher parade, which pays homage to another scene from the film. Original and Spanish-dubbed versions of The Blob will also be playing during the celebrations, alongside Flash Gordon, Evil Dead 2 on 35mm, Harry & the Hendersons, Addams Family Values, and Gremlins 2: The New Batch. For those more active folks, July 13 features the 8th annual Blobfest 5K, 10K, and half marathon runs, with themed finishers medals.

Blobfest is just one of many offerings the Colonial is hosting this summer, with a lineup packed to the brim with events for horror fans and casual audiences alike. Next week, the theater is hosting Illuminate: Glow Rave, an electrifying dance event featuring DJ sets with a goal to raise awareness for various mental health causes. They’ll also be hosting an immersive Great Gatsby-themed party in June, a Beatles tribute act in August, and a Pride Month film series that includes beloved titles like The Birdcage, The Watermelon Woman, Glen or Glenda, and more.

Tickets for the Colonial Theatre’s Camp Blobfest are available now on their website
