Mastiff and developer Nomad Monkey’s Descent-like VR horror game Tunnels is out now on the Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and 3S as a free-to-play multiplayer game, with a new single-player DLC for $14.99 USD. The game, which brings to life the dark and confining nightmare of being pursued through a series of twisting and tightening underground passageways, was first released as a demo in late 2023, which in turn amassed over 200K downloads.
Described as a “heart-pounding, claustrophobia-inducing VR horror experience,” players are trapped underground in an abandoned mine shaft. Armed with only their wits, players must navigate the claustrophobic passageways to find a way out, all the while encountering the horrors lurking in the shadows.
Relying solely on a lone voice over the radio to survive, players are engulfed in gameplay as they embark on a story-driven plunge into suffocating darkness. Players must plunge into eerie underground lakes, zipline over bottomless chasms, and scale sheer cliffs—all while evading the nightmarish creatures lurking in the depths.
The free multiplayer campaign sees players teaming up with friends (and strangers) in order to escape the tunnels. You’ll need to work together to survive the horrors, or you can choose to betray your teammates in order to save yourself. As you squeeze through narrow crevices, you’ll feel the walls closing in. You must fight to keep your sanity as the mine and the creatures within it collapse in on you.
