Independent Film Company has acquired U.S. rights to Over Your Dead Body, a remake of Norwegian cult thriller, The Trip, directed by Saturday Night Live alumnus and Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone (Pop Star: Never Stop Stopping, MacGruber).
Starring a stacked all-star cast of Samara Weaving, Jason Segel, Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, Paul Guilfoyle, and Keith Jardine, Over Your Dead Body follows a dysfunctional couple (Segel and Weaving) who head to a remote cabin to supposedly reconnect, but each has secret plans to kill the other.
Based on Tommy Wirkola’s original, which starred Noomi Rapace and Askel Hennie, the script for the remake was adapted by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney.
Said Taccone of the acquisition:
“I am THRILLED to have Independent Film Company as a partner on releasing OVER YOUR DEAD BODY. I am equally pumped to have audiences watch this movie in real live theaters and love that IFC understands how important it is for a movie this kick ass and full of twists to have a real theatrical release. If I have a third child, I’m probably going to name it IFC!”
Head of IFC Entertainment Group Scott Shooman adds:

Independent Film Company is set to release the Over Your Dead Body wide theatrically, but no news right now of a concrete release date.
