Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, the upcoming (sort of) slasher from I Saw the TV Glow‘s Jane Schoenbrun, has found two of its leads, with Hacks star Hannah Einbinder and The X-Files legend Gillian Anderson set to star.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment will produce, with Mubi financing and distributing the film in North America, Latin America, the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Turkey, India, Australia, and New Zealand.
An official synopsis for Teenage Sex and Death, previously reported by the New Yorker, reads “a queer filmmaker hired to direct a new installment of a long-running slasher franchise. The director fixates on the prospect of casting the ‘final girl ‘from the original movie, and the two women descend into a frenzy of psychosexual mania.”
Schoenbrun, whose previous genre offering We’re All Going to the World’s Fair was released in 2021, had this to say of their third feature:
“I make movies I wish existed when I was a kid […] Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is my best attempt at the ‘sleepover classic’: an insane yet cozy midnight odyssey that beckons to unsuspecting viewers from the horror section at the local video store. I couldn’t be more excited to be heading to sleepaway camp this summer with the mad comic genius Hannah Einbinder, the legendary Gillian Anderson, and the daring folks at Mubi and Plan B, who by greenlighting this movie have summoned a plague-like flood of blood, guts, and various other fluids to rain down on us all.”
I Saw the TV Glow, which stars Justice Smith and Jack Haven as two lonely teens who find their identity in a horror television show, received glowing praise from critics and fans alike. Their next project, a novel titled Public Access Afterworld, will be published by Hogarth in 2026.
