Now that we’ve seen what happens when xenomorphs take over a spaceship in Alien: Romulus, it’s time to discover what would happen if they arrived in a much more familiar — and dangerous — place. FX has released a new teaser for Alien: Earth, their new series set within Ridley Scott’s sci-fi world, to celebrate Alien Day, named after the moon on which James Cameron’s Aliens is set, LV-426.
The teaser reveals that it’s capitalism that brings the xenomorph to Earth, showcasing a vessel tasked with bringing five of the universe’s deadliest creatures back to our planet for study and profit — because that adjective is so totally appealing to a normal person, right? We don’t have any idea whether all five are xenomorphs or new creatures we’ve never seen before, but if the teaser proves one thing, it’s that the show’s protagonists have their work cut out for them if they want to live to see another day.
The new series, created by Noah Hawley, stars Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille and Moe Bar-El. We also finally have a full synopsis for the series, which reads as follows:
When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in the sci-fi horror series “Alien: Earth.” As members of the crash recovery crew search for survivors among the wreckage, they encounter mysterious predatory life forms more terrifying than they could have ever imagined. With this new threat unlocked, the search crew must fight for survival and what they choose to do with this discovery could change planet Earth as they know it.
Alien: Earth is set two years before the original Ridley Scott film, released in 1979, and marks the first time the franchise has come to television. It follows last year’s Alien: Romulus, the seventh film in the franchise and the most recent after Scott’s Alien: Covenant in 2017.
