A few years back, the SCP Archives Podcast had an episode about SCP-3008, which took place in an IKEA store. Now, developer Embers and Oro Interactive are using a similar concept of being trapped in a furniture store with their new co-op Survival Horror game on Steam, Storebound.
Storebound sees 1-4 players trapped inside a nightmarish furniture store, where you and your friends must scavenge for survival and find the exit before the “employees” catch up to you. The game functions on a day/night cycle. During the day, you’ll need to scour the aisles for food, tools, and necessary supplies. At the same time, you’ll be searching for pathways and shelter spots while managing your limited resources. Every minute matters.
When the lights go out, hiding is your only hope. The “employees” grow hostile, patrolling the aisles and hunting anything that moves. Therefore, you’ll need to keep quiet and keep out of sight in order to survive. Players will need to navigate the pitch-black aisles using flashlights and environmental cues while keeping noise to a minimum to avoid detection.
The deeper you go in Storebound, the closer you’ll get to finding an exit. Stay too long, however, and the risks grow higher with every passing second. You’ll need to work together with your friends via proxy voice-chat or walkie-talkies, coordinating every step.
