Build Up Your Lovecraftian Locomotive in This New Trailer for ‘RailGods of Hysterra’ [Exclusive]
Companion doesn’t hit theaters until next week, but its soundtrack is coming to vinyl today — and Bloody Disgusting has the exclusive details.
Mutant, in partnership with WaterTower Music, will launch pre-orders for the Companion 2xLP album at 1pm ET.
Composed by Song Exploder podcast host/creator Hrishikesh Hirway (“Everything Sucks!”), the album is pressed on 140-gram pink marble vinyl.
The score begins by earnestly paying tribute to the plucky romance at the center. It invites you into its rose-colored world just long enough to lower your guard before deftly switching gears into the twisted genre score buried underneath.
Chaotic as that may sound, the score is continually grounded with an incredible melodic hook incorporating lead actor Sophie Thatcher‘s voice (“Iris’ Theme”) that pays homage to Rosemary’s Baby. But don’t read too much into that comparison. The twists and turns of Companion are uniquely their own, and best avoided for the optimal viewing experience.
Expected to ship April, the record features artwork by Greg Ruth.
Produced by Zach Cregger and Boulderlight Pictures (Barbarian), Companion marks the directorial debut of Drew Hancock, who also wrote the script. Jack Quaid co-stars with Thatcher.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “Though familiar in many ways, Hancock’s confident direction and commitment to entertaining mayhem ensures a highly entertaining ride that builds to one of the most triumphant conclusions in recent memory.”
