Ahead of Dead of Darkness launching later this month, developer Retrofiction Games today revealed a few more details about the game, including a launch discount price. The game will be available digitally via Steam for $15.99, while an additional 15% discount will also be available to those who pick the game up during launch week.

Dead of Darkness will feature “a delicately and devilishly crafted” 12 hour campaign, complete with “rich narrative, foreboding atmosphere, deep lore and devious puzzles.” Players will be able to choose from four difficulty settings from the start (Very Easy, Easy, Moderate, Hard), with additional difficulty levels unlocked (Very Hard, In The Dead of Darkness) and a New Game Plus mode upon completion of the campaign.

The narrative of Dead of Darkness is further enhanced by two-hours of fully voiced cutscenes performed by the following international cast…

Set in England in 1985, Dead of Darkness is a 2D survival-horror action-adventure with cosmic horror influences, and an obvious Resident Evil inspiration. Players assume the role of private investigator Miles Windham, who, following the tragic passing of his daughter, heads to the mysterious Velvet Island to investigate a lead on her death. Shortly after arriving, Miles discovers the residents to be increasingly hostile, and soon finds himself in a desperate struggle for his own survival.

Dead of Darkness will launch on Steam on January 23. A demo is also available. Eastasiasoft will be bringing the game to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles at a later date.
