‘Warhammer 40K: Darktide’ Now on PlayStation 5; “Grim Protocols” DLC Also Available [Trailer]
After last year’s live-action reveal of 1C Game Studios’ take on H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds with The War of the Worlds: Siberia, there was understandably the question of actual game footage. 1C Game Studios has rectified that with a new reveal trailer, along with a host of screenshots and concept art.
As with the novel, in an alternate 1896, Earth was the target of a massive Martian invasion. Unlike the novel, in The War of the Worlds: Siberia, the story takes place in Russia, and follows survivors who attempt to save themselves by fleeing the panic-stricken Petrograd, heading for the eastern end of the Russian Empire.
Players take on the role of a nameless student, who will face off against violent enemies and unexpected allies. You’ll be making use of contemporary weapons —fists, sabers, and whatever you can get ahold of— and makeshift explosives to defend yourself. The game will also apparently make use of an upgrade system, and feature “an intricate story with memorable characters.” You’ll also be having to solve riddles and make discoveries that will reveal more about the game lore.
Currently, The War of the Worlds: Siberia is planned for a PC release, with the possibility of a console release.
