Netflix’s first ever showcase of upcoming international features yesterday confirmed a sequel to the streamer’s most watched non-English language film, Roar Uthaug’s Troll.
Released back in 2022, Troll racked up over 170 million hours of views, entering Netflix’s top 10 in 93 countries including its native Norway, the U.S., the U.K., France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Brazil and Mexico.
Deadline, who confirmed the news today, don’t reveal any plot details for Troll 2, only that director Uthaug will return, as will writer Espen Aukan. Confirmed cast (some of whom starred in the first Troll) include Sara Khorami, Jon Ketil Johnsen, Gard B. Eidsvold, Kim S. Falck-Jorgensen, Aksel Almaas and Trond Magnum.

In a previous interview with What’s On Netflix, Troll producer Kristian Strand Sinkerud revealed that ‘we have ambitions to make a sequel and perhaps two sequels’, so Troll 2 could end up being the second part of a Troll trilogy, or Trollogy, as it were.
With 2025 being right around the corner, we can’t imagine it’ll be long before more Troll 2 news emerges. Keep an eye out for updates.
