At Realm of Terror Haunted House, located in Round Lake Beach, Illinois, you can kind of experience both this Halloween season. That’s because this very scary in itself haunted house was used as the shooting location for a new horror movie launching October 8th called, Haunt Season.
It all makes sense now, right? A horror movie about a haunted house full of characters coming after you filmed at a real haunted house you can visit…where characters come after you.

Realm of Terror is a long-running haunted attraction just north of Chicago in Lake County that has been scaring old and young alike for years and years. Every year there is a new story line, new characters, and new scares. Realm of Terror (or ROT as we like to call it) has even been named the “Number One Haunted Attraction in Illinois” by hauntedhousechicago.com. The theme for 2024 is called “The Haunting Hour,” where a malevolent presence known as The Harbinger has taken shape in the confines of ROT. He’s not a ghost, demon or spirit – but the very essence of the old house taken to form. The new movie, Haunt Season, filmed at Realm of Terror, is about a young actress who takes a job at a Halloween haunt, and as she is introduced to the weird and the wonderful in this new job, she is subjected to a costumed killer that picks off characters one by one. This killer brings the characters’ fake injuries into gory reality.
Haunt Season will be in theaters and streaming this October, so find it, watch it, then check out Realm of Terror live (or dead) and in person. Or the other way around. Either way, put this movie and the attraction on your hit list this Halloween season.
