We all knew that buying those creepy dolls you see at antique stores is a bad idea, but what about jewelry? Well, ESX Productions is here to give you every reason not to buy that strange family heirloom you found for three bucks in some converted old attic, as FANGORIA exclusively debuts the trailer for The Curse of the Necklace. You get the idea from the title, right?

If you don’t, here’s a trailer breakdown: a doting (or maybe not so much, based on his daughter’s reaction) husband brings home a beautiful bejeweled necklace for his wife, a gaudy old thing that definitely didn’t come from a jeweler. (We later find out it came from evidence storage at his job at the police station — WTF dude?) When the museum piece is “borrowed” by one of their daughters, the truth of its origin slowly comes to light.

The debatably ugly thing is actually a piece used to trap evil spirits, ones that can latch onto a human victim from inside the gem placed in the center. And latch on it does, to both the family’s daughters, who find themselves in mortal peril as they must race against the clock to find a way to truly destroy the vengeful demon inside the necklace — if that’s even possible at all.

The horror period piece stars sisters Violet and Madeline McGraw playing — you guessed it — the sisters cursed by the necklace.  Neither are newcomers to horror even at their young ages, with Violet having starred in the Blumhouse breakout hit M3GAN and Madeline featuring as a part of the ensemble in Scott Derrickson’s The Black Phone. Hopefully it’ll be the beginning of a beautiful career in genre film for the both of them as they continue to flex their muscles with the upcoming Warner Bros. film.

The Curse of the Necklace is directed by Juan Pablo Arias Munoz from a script by John Ducey,  and also stars Christina Moore, Sarah Lind, Henry Thomas, and Roma Maffia. The film arrives in theaters on TK. Check out the trailer below:
