Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans who live in the Midwest, rejoice! The folks at Bucket Listers Presents are bringing a new pop-up experience based on the beloved show to Chicago this fall, just in time for the Halloween season. What’s more, it’s all going to culminate with a Vampires Vs. Slayers 90’s Halloween Party on Saturday, October 26 the weekend before Halloween. The only downside seems to be the regional availability of the experience.
Dubbed Buffy: The Slayer Experience, the pop-up will be taking over the bar Whiskey Business in Chicago beginning September 20. According to the website, tickets for the event will start at $22. While some of these themed experiences are free, such as last year’s Scream VI walk-through in Santa Monica, there’s generally a “you get what you pay for” element. What’s included? For starters, each reservation comes with “a welcome blood bag cocktail” (pictured below). It also includes stake-throwing, though that is subject to availability. The event page describes the experience as follows:
“In every generation, there is a chosen one. Do you have what it takes to become the next slayer? Join the Scooby Gang and step into the world of Buffy. The immersive activation will be a combination of equal parts cocktail bar, restaurant, training ground and haunted house decor, molded into a one of a kind, over-the-top evening. A true celebration of all things Buffy.
Begin your journey with a trip through a full recreation of the hallowed halls and storied library of Sunnydale High, before sneaking their way through the dark depths of the treacherous Hellmouth. Every slayer in training will get the chance to prove their worthy skills via wooden stake-throwing lanes, and the opportunity to fight off a gang of vampires scattered throughout the rooftop Restfield Cemetery.”
Created by Joss Whedon, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is based on the 1992 movie of the same name. Whereas the movie had to center for cult status, the show ran for seven seasons and nearly 150 episodes, remaining hugely popular to this day. It also spawned an equally successful spin-off in Angel. So there are surely plenty of people who will be eager to see what this experience has to offer.
Buffy: The Slayer Experience kicks off on September 20. Tickets will soon be available via BucketListers.com. For more, check out the theme song from Audible’s Buffy podcast Slayers.
